Our design for this Izakaya bar and restaurant uses wood in various formats to frame the culinary action on display. Drinks, sushi and teppanyaki are all served up on the solid maple bar beneath a slatted canopy suggestive of the traditional makisu rolling mat rearing up like a tidal wave.

 

The restaurant seating area is beneath a cloud of lamps while murals by local graffiti artists compliment the underground bar snug with an urban appeal, a great spot for a sunken view of the fantastic new Halifax Central Library towering opposite.
